BBL AND IPL PHOTOFACIAL PROCEDURES IN PHILADELPHIA, PA

WSkin Studio™ offers patients in the greater Philadelphia region and beyond an advanced, non-surgical solution to restore and rejuvenate damaged skin—in a flash! That’s right, we use light to improve your skin. In fact, the skin of some BroadBand Light (BBL™) patients look younger 10 years after treatment!

WHAT IS A BBL™ PHOTOFACIAL?

BBL™ photofacials utilize a fluorescent light and laser technology that is most commonly used for:

  • Lightening and removing sun spots and brown blotches on the face, neck, chest, hands and other areas of the body.
  • Lightening and reducing redness, rosacea, dilated blood vessels and broken blood vessels on the face, neck, and chest.
  • Helping to control flushing, improve skin texture through collagen stimulation and improve pore size by temporarily reducing oiliness.

BroadBand Light treatment is effective on all skin types and on all parts of the body.

HOW BBL™ PHOTOFACIALS WORK.

BBL™ photofacial treatment is performed in our Philadelphia office. Each treatment session takes approximately 30 minutes. There is little to no downtime and you can generally return to your normal schedule immediately.

BBL™ almost always consists of 4-6 treatments, usually one every three to six weeks. The benefits of photorejuvenation treatments are achieved with little discomfort and minimal risk.

Annual treatments are still recommended. Signs of skin-related aging is slower to appear in patients who undergo BBL™ treatments each year.

BBL™ RECOVERY

After BBL™ treatment, red spots are more red for a day, and pigment changes that were seen in the skin grow progressively darker. As the pigment rises to the skin surface it then exfoliates and thus sloughs off. Rarely if too much energy is delivered, a burn can be created and is easily treated, usually without any issues, using topical emollients. BBL™ can be used to treat brown spots, melasma, hyperpigmentation, following scarring and for the treatment of rosacea.

BBL™ TREATMENT SIDE EFFECTS

The most common side effect of BBL™ treatment is exfoliation. The skin can be red. Brown spots gradually hyper pigment and fall off. More than one treatment is often necessary to fully improve the trouble spots. BBL™ can also be used for post-laser redness in patients who have ablative laser treatments and is very commonly used for this in our practice.

WHAT IS A PHOTOFACIAL?

Light is a powerful source of energy—it gives us the ability to see and understand space and color. We use light energy to treat a number of skin conditions, including:

  • Irregular skin pigmentation
  • Skin blotches (liver spot and hemangiomas)
  • Small blood vessels
  • Rosacea

WSkin Studio™, located near Philadelphia, offers BroadBand Light (BBL™) phototherapy, an advanced photofacial system made by Sciton, that uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology to treat skin conditions associated with aging and sun damage.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

The side effects are mild but may include temporary swelling, redness, accentuation of brown spots, crusting, and an occasional bruise or small superficial blister.
