Christmas has come early for me at W Cosmetic Surgery! My “magical” gift arrived a few weeks ago…and it’s a gift I look forward to sharing with YOU!
For nearly three years, I have been doing a treatment called microneedling with a dermaroller. We get great results (check out the pictures of one acne scars below).
But now, we’ve taken it up a notch, adding a Dermapen. The Dermapen is an advanced electronic version of the dermaroller, and can be adjusted for different areas of the face and for different issues.
For those of you who don’t know about microneedling, here are the basics. Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy, is a treatment that causes multiple micro pinpoint puncture “wounds” to the skin. This dermal injury induces the release of growth factors that stimulate the production of new Collagen and elastin. New Collagen production is the object of ALL skin resurfacing and rejuvenation treatments. This is a really HUGE deal- because we deplete collagen as we age, and need to do as many things as possible to “plump” it up. What is even more fabulous is that these tiny wounds also create micro-channels, which aid in infusing therapeutic serums deep into the skin causing better penetration.
The Dermapen increases the effectiveness of the treatment and also reduces discomfort. With a topical anesthetic, there is very little discomfort, and the micro-channels heal rapidly so downtime is minimal- one day or even less. Patients have described the feeling as an intense microdermabrasion.
Microneedling has been shown to:
- Smooth wrinkles and fine lines
- Improve skin texture
- Relax scars
- Improve depressed acne scarring
- Improve stretch marks
- Help with skin tightening
While it takes 6 weeks for new collagen to form and about 3-6 months for the full effect of the treatments, my patients all say that after the initial treatment that their skin has a “glow”, feels tighter, and fine lines are diminished. A series of 4-6 treatments is recommended for maximum effect.
Please call today to ask about this wonderful treatment. Don’t let your collagen go away without a fight! The future of fantastic skin is here at W Cosmetic Surgery.
